Modifieds

Mod_render-1Added to Weekend Warriors in 2014 was 3 classes of Asphalt Modfieds. The Modifieds took a very large amount of time to complete and as with any new product it was not without a few issues here and there. To date this was still our toughest release and did take a period of time to adjust and dial in all the tweaks to correct any issues in physics. The Modifieds are split in 3 divisions SK Lite, SK, and last but certainly not least the ground pounders themselves, Tour Modifieds! Using rule books from real life tracks and touring series all 3 Modified divisions have been built to provide the most realistic Asphalt Modified experience possible right to your pc! As always RFN Developments is dedicated to bringing you the most realistic short track racing experience possible right to your own home. Battle side by side, wheel to wheel at short tracks all around North America without ever leaving the comfort of your own home! Below we break down the individual divisions of Modifeds to help you become better acclimated to the viscous, fire breathing, ground pounding, beast you are about to strap into and hold on for dear life!

3 Divisions of Asphalt Modifieds!

SK Lite Modified

SK Lite Modifieds are a somewhat rare breed! These cars are very similar to the SK Modifieds with the biggest most noticiable difference being much less power. Regardless of the reduced power these cars still utilize the short and wide stance that is iconic to the East Coast style Modifieds, also the wedge shape of the body and lightweight design these cars still get around the track a great pace. With SK Lite being the lowest division of Modifieds they are not quite as popular and race at select tracks. Most tracks that race these cars also normally run SK Modifieds as well and most are NASCAR sanctioned. Let’s get into the specifics of this fun series to race in:

  • GM 603 Crate Engine 355hp 443ft-lbs Torque!
  • 2,600lbs Minimum Weight!
  • 55.0% Maximum Left Side Weight!
  • OEM 4 Speed Transmission Option!
  • OEM 3 Speed Transmission Option!
  • 2 Inch Ride Height!

SK Modified

SK Modifieds are a standard division found at a wide variety of NASCAR sanctioned home tracks! SK modified and/or Late Model Stock Cars typically count as the headlining division at those tracks and depending on which one is run in your area at your local track it is the division that counts for Division 1 in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Points! SK Modifieds are more popular in the Northeastern region of the USA at tracks such as Stafford Motor Speedway and Thompson Speedway! These cars differ from Tour Modifieds in that they have less power and are on slightly smaller tires. As with the other divisions of Modifieds these cars share the same overall stance (besides tire size), lightweight, and wedge shape. Here is some further information on these SK Modifieds:

  • Built Engine 2brl 500cfm Carb With 372hp and 386 ft-lbs Torque!
  • Spec Engine 2brl 500cfm Carb With 385hp and 301 ft-lbs Torque!
  • 2,645 Pound Minimum Weight Limit!
  • 55.0% Maximum Left Side Weight!
  • OEM 3 Speed Transmission Option!
  • Richmond 2 Speed Transmission Option!
  • 2 Inch Ride Height!

Tour Modified

These are the big boys, know only as the “Ground Pounders!” This is what you’ve all been waiting for! Weighing in at 830 pounds less than a NASCAR Cup Series car of today, pumping out only 100 less hp, pushing only 42 less ft-lbs of torque, with the same 12:1 compression ratio, naturally aspirated, these high octane Sunoco fueled beasts are NASCAR’s oldest division, Tour Modifieds! These mechanical works of art are built low and wide for a track surface hugging stance like you’ve never seen before, as if that’s not enough these beasts are sporting wide tires that would make a Sprint Car mechanic blush! Adding to the incredible power to weight ratio and stance of these machines the entire body of the car is nothing but a wedge shape to maximize down force and keep this stout vehicle hugging the track surface even more! NASCAR’s oldest series is still alive and well, also other tours such as Race of Champions and Valenti Modified Racing Series are keeping this amazing division going! Without further a due here are some specifications on the Ground Pounders:

  • Spec Engine 4brl 830cfm Carb and Minimum Car Weight Of 2,620 Pounds!
  • Built Engine 4brl 500cfm Carb 1/8th Inch Restrictor Plate and Minimum Car Weight Of 2,645 Pounds!
  • 2,645 Pound Minimum Weight Limit!
  • 55.0% Maximum Left Side Weight!
